We are back and excited to join our Fish Fry Research Crew! 19 of us ventured out on this beautiful spring day, only to wait a full hour in line! Because of the long line and wait, our group did not get to stand in line together or sit together, which was a little disappointing, But, St Pius overall earned a 4.0 🐟🐟🐟🐟 on the 5 fish scale. St Pius had many options. Fried cod was rated 3.5 as it was not hot or crispy. Baked cod was a 4 and catfish 4.5. Several people were disappointed they did not offer shrimp, which is very common. They did have homemade cheese pizza which was rated 5. Most of the sides were homemade, and dinners came with your choice of 3. Onion rings were also available for an upcharge. Homemade vinegar slaw was 4.5, Mac & cheese 5, and potato salad 4.5. Onion rings were a 5, canned green beans 4, and apple sauce a 3. Homemade desserts were also included, most rated 4. St Pius earned extra points for using real plates and silverware, homemade tartar sauce, and real lemon slices. But, they lost points for the long wait, no shrimp, and no hushpuppies. We ate in the church hall, which was very crowded and loud. They also provided live music which was fun. There were plenty of volunteers clearing tables and people attending were friendly and fun. Overall, St Pius was a solid fish fry. See you next week at St Stephen Protomartyr near Carondolet Park.
